People react in different ways to being exploited. Esme has created such negative TrustWorth? that many people will not play with her any more. That makes her really disgruntled ... CanCardsCopeWithContention??
Some people, however, carry on helping her as before, but let her know that they realise she has been lying to them.
After a week of this, Esme is feeling somewhat embarrassed, and decides to change her ways. She makes a new card, and never looks back.
Hannibal is a serial killer. He only likes to kill and eat people. Very few people have `I want to be killed and eaten' on their cards, so Hannibal is out of a job. But we feed and care for him anyway. No one hates Hannibal, they feel sorry for him and his strange disorder. He is rather dangerous around people who aren't wearing armour, so he is prevented from leaving his house without an escort. He spends a fair bit of time surfing the Internet, and chatting with people, which is relatively harmless. After a few years, he decides to write his memoirs and publish them on the Internet. People appreciate that Hannibal is reciprocating at last. New research suggests that Lithium has a positive effect on serial killers - Hannibal responds well. Fitted with a radio-collar, Hannibal is permitted to leave his house unsupervised for periods of up to 24 hours.
Right up until that guy with the word "vigilante" on his card turns up ... and a lot worse problems turn up with him ...
I don't know exactly what is a `vigilate' - I have found these definitions:
vigilante, vigilance man -- (member of a vigilance committee)
watchfulness, vigilance, alertness -- (the process of paying close and continuous attention)
{Vigilance committee}, a volunteer committee of citizens for the oversight and protection of any interest, esp. one organized for the summary suppression and punishment of crime, as when the processes of law appear inadequate.
I would like to be a vigilante! Although I'm only interested in the suppression of large-scale crimes such as war, and small-scale crimes such as using money at this point in time. However, PunishmentIsRevenge? and RevengeIsWrong?.
